Our Team

  • Makinde {Storytelling Facilitator}

    Makinde grew up with storytelling in his blood. Whether it was the influence of his author/teacher grandmother and the myriad of children's books he read in her home, or the sometimes age-inappropriate TV shows and movies he watched as a child; Storytelling and more specifically the meaning we ascribe and gain from stories have long been of interest to him.

    Makinde loves how stories connect us to one another by allowing us to share frames of reference. He also adores how stories allow us to connect with writers through time.

  • Lashawn {Storytelling Facilitator}

    LaShawn is a Storyteller Facilitator, career and business coach, and intentional space holder. With a background in engineering and public speaking she designs spaces that invite connection, reflection, and personal growth through structured play.

    LaShwn believes that stories connect the dots—between people, between past and future, and between who we’ve been and who we’re becoming. LaShawn’s approach meets you with clarity, care, and curiosity.

  • Kazi {Outreach Liason}

    Kazi Smith has been a fan of storytelling his whole life. He was first exposed to them by his listening to his father tell stories about his life to pass the time during long car rides, and grew to fall in love with the craft as he grew older and heard stories crafted from his favorite musical artist.

    He not only enjoys using it as an outlet to express himself when he's performing, but it gives him the opportunity to learn about the world when he hears the stories of others.

  • Emmanuel Ross {Logistics Coordinator}

    Emmanuel Ross is an educator, performer, and storyteller based in Charlotte. With a background in music, theater, and public speaking, he loves creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and inspired.

    Emmanuel brings humor, heart, and honest connection to every stage, helping stories build community one voice at a time.
